The Ministry of Education and Science has prepared a draft resolution of the Russian government on renaming the Russian Foundation for Basic Research into the Russian Center for Scientific Information. Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes about this.
The main goals of the center are to support the conduct and development of scientific research and development, to promote the integration of the achievements of Russian science and education into the international scientific- research space, as well as dissemination of domestic and foreign scientific experience.
The Russian Center for Scientific Information will develop methodologies for collecting, maintaining and analyzing databases of scientific information, approaches to unify identifiers and classifiers of scientific projects, to provide researchers with access to scientific information.
The draft resolution was ambiguously met in the scientific community, the newspaper writes, since the new center duplicates the functions of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to Vladimir Ivanov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, such duplication will lead to inefficient spending of budgetary funds and to confrontation in the scientific community. to become a unification of the efforts of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Academy of Sciences under the leadership of the Academy,” he added.
Earlier it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin declared 2022-2031 the decade of science and technology in Russia. The corresponding resolution is aimed at strengthening the role of science and technology in solving the key tasks of the development of society and the Russian Federation.
