Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed by phone with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron the situation around Ukraine, according to the Kremlin website.

Putin, in particular, drew attention to the “systematic shelling by the Ukrainian military of the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant”, which “create the danger of a large-scale catastrophe that can lead to radiation contamination of vast territories.”

“The Presidents noted the importance of sending an IAEA mission to the nuclear power plant as soon as possible, which would be able to assess the real situation on the spot. The Russian side confirmed its readiness to provide the agency inspectors with the necessary assistance,— The report says.

The head of state also recalled the invitation of experts from the UN Secretariat and the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka in the DPR, which was hit by a missile attack. The Russian side blames the Ukrainian military for it.

In addition, the president touched upon a deal to export Ukrainian grain from the Black Sea ports and export Russian products and fertilizers to world markets, pointing out the remaining obstacles to Russian exports.

The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the French side. The presidents agreed to continue contacts.
