Presidents of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a meeting on 19 July in Tehran will discuss the export of Ukrainian grain, said the assistant to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov.

According to him, work in this direction “is being carried out very actively.” As the presidential aide recalled, on July 13, the first quadripartite meeting on grain was held in Istanbul with the participation of representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN, and the parties agreed to prepare a joint document, as well as open a coordination center in Istanbul.

“We are ready to continue work on this track, this work will continue. This is the first. And second, of course, this issue will be discussed between the presidents of [Russia and Turkey]— it's one hundred percent, — said Ushakov (quote from RIA Novosti).

Last week, delegations from Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN held talks on grain in Istanbul. Moscow presented its proposals, the participants of the meeting basically supported them, the Ministry of Defense reported. According to the representative of the department Igor Konashenkov, work on the final document called “Black Sea Initiative” will be completed in the near future.

As Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said, the next meeting of the delegations will take place next week. Source “RIA Novosti” said that the date 20 & ndash; 21 July was tentatively chosen.

Details of a possible deal have not yet been officially disclosed. Turkey will check empty ships arriving at Ukrainian ports to ensure they are not being used to deliver weapons, Russia fears, sources told The Wall Street Journal. In total, grain is planned to be exported from three Ukrainian ports. The ships will be escorted by Ukrainian ships. A ceasefire will be declared and minesweeping will be organized for the duration of the passage of ships, the newspaper writes.
