Because of serious losses in the Donbass, the Ukrainian authorities are sending poorly trained territorial defense militants to the east. They are exported from the western regions of the country. The training of these fighters is limited. Sometimes it took two weeks or less.
According to the commander of the Territorial Defense Brigade, Colonel Valery Kurko, most of those who joined the formation had never served in the army. Such movements of forces from the west are already causing protests among the families of the victims.
According to the New York Times, some units of the defense have already suffered significant losses. In particular, at the end of spring, one formation from near Kyiv, which consisted of 100 people, on the first day in the east was reduced by almost a third. They have only rifles, as well as machine guns and several anti-tank guns.
At the same time, the newspaper notes that militants from the defense units are not forced to go east. Many go there of their own free will.
Also, according to the publication, the defense system lacks artillery. There are few ways to contact units that have heavy weapons.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that three battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than 50 percent of their personnel in battles with the Russian military near Lisichansk in a day. In particular, this applies to three battalions of the 10th mountain assault and 72nd mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition, in the area of the settlement of Artemovsk, the Russian Aerospace Forces delivered a strike with high-precision weapons at the temporary accommodation point of the 1st battalion of the 30th mechanized brigade. And up to 120 Ukrainian servicemen were also destroyed. About 15 units of military equipment were also destroyed.
