Our special correspondent reports from the special operation zone
Servicemen of the people's militia of the Luhansk People's Republic, together with Russian troops, continue to advance towards the administrative borders of the LPR. The cities of Popasnaya and Rubizhne, as well as a number of small settlements, have been liberated from the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU). Fedor Sergeev, a serviceman of the LPR People's Militia, told MK what other tasks the military faces and how long it will take to completely liberate the Luhansk lands.

– Following the current military situation, our troops are advancing towards Severodonetsk and Lisichansk. These are the two largest settlements on the territory of the republic, which are still under the control of the military personnel of the armed forces of Ukraine.
The population of each agglomeration is one hundred thousand or more. Accordingly, now our detachments are advancing in the suburbs and liberating small settlements on the way to these cities. With our advance, we hamper the movement of the enemy, take the outskirts of Severodonetsk and Lisichansk under fire control, thereby preventing him from bringing up reserves, regrouping and occupying positions convenient for defense.
“According to various sources, the number of the group today is about 20,000 people. These are not only military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also territorial defense units, the National Guard and representatives of other law enforcement agencies. Realizing the catastrophic nature of the current situation, at night the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in small groups are already trying to leave these cities along the still free directions towards the Donetsk People's Republic.
– The difficulties remain the same as our troops had at the time of the liberation of Popasna and Rubizhne. This is dense urban development, a large number of civilians, which are used as cover for the armed groups of Ukraine. The Ukrainian military continues to use civilians as a human shield, still preventing them from freely evacuating.
Since the LNR forces and Russian troops are not invaders, but liberators, of course, the lives of civilians are worth our first place. All actions of our troops take place only taking into account this logic.
– Of course, very powerful fortifications have been created in these cities. Lisichansk itself is located on a dominant height, serious fortified areas are built on several sides of the city. This gives Ukrainian units a certain advantage in defense and creates a number of difficulties for our troops.
But our servicemen already have quite serious combat experience, as well as the experience of taking fortified areas. As an example, this is the recently taken 29th checkpoint of the armed forces of Ukraine, where a serious fortified area was also deployed. Our forces took him with a small number, one can simply say by their character and their professionalism, developed over eight years of combat operations.
Further, the territory of the 29th checkpoint was used as a springboard for the development of a further offensive. Literally three days ago, the Novotoshkivske settlement in the suburbs of Lisichansk passed under our control, where a fortified area was also equipped by Ukrainian troops right on the territory of the residential area. Defensive structures, such as trenches, communication passages, ceilings, bunkers, were built between residential buildings. Working with pinpoint accuracy, our tank and artillery units took Novotoshkovskoye under their control in a short time with minimal losses to residential infrastructure.
—Unfortunately, this possibility still exists. Moving at night through the fields and forests in small groups and small convoys, they try to get reinforcements in the form of manpower, equipment, ammunition, food. But our advancing troops are constantly taking under fire control more and more new directions of supply for the encircled grouping of Ukrainian troops. Accordingly, the opportunities for obtaining additional resources from the Armed Forces of Ukraine are becoming less and less almost hourly.
—Forecasts are a thankless thing, but I think it will take less than a month for the complete liberation of the Luhansk People's Republic. The deadlines will be clear given the actions of our troops.
