An opposition politician, former leader of the Union of Right Forces was detained in Moscow; Leonid Gozman (included in the register of foreign media agents). About this “Interfax” said lawyer Mikhail Biryukov.
“Leonid Gozman has been detained. Now we are at the police station, — he said.
The reason for the detention is unknown, the lawyer added. The Ministry of Internal Affairs put Gozman on the federal wanted list. Biryukov said that there were no grounds for the search, since no charges had yet been brought against Gozman.

On July 15, Gozman announced that he had been summoned to the Investigative Committee. On the same day, he told RBC that a criminal case was opened against him for failure to notify dual citizenship. According to him, he received a call from the UK “and sent a summons via WhatsApp”, after which he and his lawyer visited the department, where he was informed about the criminal case.
Gozman and his wife, in addition to Russian, have Israeli citizenship . They did not know about the need to notify the Russian authorities within 60 days after receiving the passport of another state and did so about a year later, the politician said. “This was done over three years ago,” — added Gozman.

For late notification of authorities on obtaining a second citizenship or a residence permit, the Code of Administrative Offenses (Article 19.8.3) provides for punishment in the form of a fine of 500 to 1 thousand rubles. At the same time, in the Criminal Code Art. 330.2 provides for punishment for failure to comply with this requirement in the form of a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles. or compulsory work.
Leonid Gozman— Russian politician, former leader of the Union of Right Forces party. In the early 1990s, he was an adviser to the author of economic reforms in Russia, the former head of government Yegor Gaidar, then in the presidential administration, and later in the government, he worked in a similar position with Anatoly Chubais. Gozman is known for his criticism of the Russian authorities, including because of the special operation in Ukraine. In early May, the Ministry of Justice included Gozman in the register of individuals acting as a foreign agent.
