Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Altai Territory Yevgeny Novikov was found dead in the Donetsk People's Republic, he was identified among those killed during the shelling of the city of Shakhtersk on July 10. According to Shamkov, Novikov went to the DPR for the first time on a volunteer mission in early July, and a few days later came under fire. “Together with relatives, we hoped to the last that he was alive, but not so long ago he was identified,” — he said. Novikov's body will be delivered to Barnaul this week.
Shamkov said that he would offer to award his deputy posthumously, “it could be the Order of Merit for the Altai Territory.”
After the disappearance of the deputy chairman of the public chamber, his relatives began searching by posting ads on social networks. They said that Novikov went to the Donbass as a volunteer from the patriotic organization “Heritage”. Novikov was deputy chairman of the public chamber of Altai region since 2014. He participated in the veteran movement of the region, was deputy chairman of the board of the regional organization “Russian Union of Veterans of Afghanistan”.
