The Perseids are formed as the Earth passes through a plume of dust particles released by comet 109/Swift-Tuttle.
Under favorable conditions, up to 100 meteors per hour, or 1-2 meteors per minute, can be observed. For better visibility, it is better to observe the meteor shower outside the city or in the mountains, focusing to the northeast.
